Aims To compare information on drug–drug interactions (DDIs) reported on two standard drug-related information sources (Summary of Product Characteristics and Drugdex system by Micromedex), by assessing the prevalence and predictors of potential DDI with proton pump inhibitors (PPIs) in general practice. Methods From the ‘Caserta-1’ Local Health-Service database, 156 general practitioners (GPs) were recruited. Aim: Primary endpoint was to report polypharmacy distribution in the general population vs ≥65 years old people and to examine the frequency of drug–drug interactions (DDIs) in the Health Local Unit of Palermo, Italy, in relationship with patients’ age. Methods: Drug prescription data for the year 2014 were extracted from the database of the Local Health Unit of Palermo Province, Italy. Introduction: In a previous study, based on PITER cohort data, it was reported that of patients, undergoing direct acting antiviral (DAA) therapy, 30%-44%, are at risk of potential drug-drug interactions (DDI). Aim: We aimed to evaluate the prospective profile of elbasvir/grazoprevir (EBR/GZR) efficacy and safety combined with real life comedication profile. Inflammatory bowel diseases, including Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis, are chronic diseases associated with increased morbidity and reduced quality of life. Age may represent a risk factor for adverse events, due to the multimorbidity and polypharmacy, common in elderly patients. Elderly are often not included in clinical trials evaluating efficacy and safety of study drugs for the treatment of inflammatory bowel diseases.
